ICFF in NYC

My stateside friends, and anyone else in NYC next week, come over and see us on Stand 2412 at the Javits Centre.
We will be showing our (made in USA) Circa and Hive chairs and maybe a couple of new lights, if I have time tonight to wire them up.

...at clerkenwell design week (with Dan Latorre Cruz)

it's a few weeks ago now but here are some great photos taken by Mr Glen Pearson. The House of Detention really was an awesome site to show. It perfectly fitted our lighting enhanced show. Special thanks to Louisa for the opportunity...

is this a good time for sustainability...?

over in Latvia last year I did an interview with these great guys from the SSE University in Riga, well , it was more of a 'Can you do a 10 minute monologue on the theme of sustainability?' . So i winged it and spliced in all sorts of tangents, as I remember.
I'm not watching it but if you want to it's here with some great stuff from intelligent people http://isthisagoodtime.org/a/hello.html

new Rawstudio lights in Arnold's bar

So, to fit with the circular theme of Arnold's new Live music and comedy venue on Bride Lane in London, we did some new lights. Low power led lights which have a magical 3D effect when placed on the wall.
Quite a few people, whilst only stood a few metres away from the wall lights, have asked me how we scooped out a hole in the wall like that.
We didn't. That would be silly....

These will be officially launched next year , but if you're interested , drop us a line...

VandA : medieval and renaissance skate decks...?

It was the Observer Ethical Awards the other day and we were asked to liven up the space a little bit with the installation of some furniture....
This was a great chance to get a quality backdrop for some shots , and get a few A-listers parking themselves on some rawstudio kit....

Leo Burnett's Madrid roof terrace...

Soo last week I had a quick trip to Espana to string up a couple of double seater hanging chairs on the roof terrace of the ad agency Leo Burnett .
I wouldn't mind that place being my office...

I'd almost forgotten how many variables there are when stringing up one of these chairs so next I'm going to do a set of 'How to tweak your chair' videos so everyone can tune their own chairs...

Çurface at Ecobuild

So we were there , wowing the crowds with our new material that's basically made from mixing up a load of rubbish...
We only got the first batch of material the week before .
It's absolutely lovely though , came out better than we expected . Like a cross between stone , leather and chocolate (best not to eat it) and it even floods the place with a coffee smell when you're working with it (Adam's front yard in this case).

our new recycled coffee material is in...

so I've been battling with the best way to make a new material from recycled coffee grounds. Now I've teamed up with Adam Fairweather and Re-Worked who has done a lot more in depth investigation into the processes and we just received our first sample of the sheet material.

It's made by mixing recycled plastics with the grounds , so it's 99.9% recycled and has a lovely mottled almost leather-like texture.

We've put a few furniture pieces together and will be showing In the GreenShoots section of Ecobuild, 2-4th March (this week) ... come and see us !

merry christmas!

we're thinking of changing the site to be themed around raw goodness for the new year...

this look's been around too long now since I first did it in 2004/5... now it's everywhere.
maybe we can kick off a new trend again.
email us YES/NO if you like the idea...

Fresh off the machine is our new upgraded 2pack chair.
We've got hold of some locally coppiced sweet chestnut and re-thunked the joints to make something engineeringly gorgeous.

It was on show for the first time on the British Council stand at 100%Design the other week.

Diddy (the stool) is ready this week . Biggie versions in the pipeline....

new ribbon stools...

So, these things have been a long time coming since a cosmic brainwave on a flight back from Japan.
Anyway , the first salable manifestations are polished, sandcast aluminium. Made in England by some proper experts and shiny enough to do your hair in front of.
There will only be 100 made.

The ribbons will be shown in the CLOSE UP exhibtion at the RCA towards the end of September.

BoltMX

in the lab, we applied Usain Bolt's genetic structure to a BMX and this frankenstiniously beautiful vehicle emerged.... fat ally mountain bike frame , 700 wheels and sawn-off race bars , set to a nice high cruisey gear...

(if you see anyone but a bald northern fella mauling with it , shin 'em and ring us up, asap)

Observer Ethical Awards '09....

didn't win anything (didn't enter, maybe next year...) but we lent the organisers some of our slot range.... so yes , Diddy, 2pack and Biggie were all there at the awards with the randomly recognisable minor celeb faces, and David Attenborough.

sorry the pic's a bit ropey (off my phone)...

PS       Q:   ethical awards? contradiction in terms?
A:   the booze was all organic.
